Cries of outrage poured from the floor of the Republican National Convention as yet again party leadership denies a proper vote to convention delegates. This time it is regarding a rules change for the nominating process. Regardless of the individual stance on the issue, there is no denying that the Chairman violated the convention rules.
This denial was conducted in a similar fashion to the Republican Party of Texas State Convention where an effort from the floor was made to amend the “State Sovereignty” plank with two pieces of language supporting a vote on Texit. The first half indicated an end to the perpetuity of the union as defined in Article 1, Section 1 of the Texas Constitution and was overwhelmingly supported. The second half calling for Texas to reassert its status as an independent nation garnered a potential majority of voice support from the delegates and a reported majority of standing support from the delegates but was quickly dismissed by the State Chair causing a similar outrage and the walk out of a sizable amount of delegates.
Actions like these from the political class are one of the top reasons that thousands of Texans are joining with the Texas Nationalist Movement to pledge their vote in support of Texas Independence. The TNM is collecting vote pledges at http://thetnm.org/vote and currently has over 270,000 in support.
