Both are TNM members with a strong history of engagement at the local and state levels and will serve as integral players in the TNM’s continuing mission.

As Legislative Liaison for the TNM, Wilkerson will be responsible for spearheading communication and engagement with the Texas legislative and executive branches. While Wilkerson’s advocacy efforts are already known to many within the TNM, this new appointment will give him an opportunity to further engage in Austin politics.

“We’re looking forward to Gayle becoming known around the Capitol and building relationships with those who put Texas first,” said TNM Political Director Jeff Sadighi. “He has already demonstrated his ability to be an effective advocate for bills that will further our mission.”

As Legislative Analyst, Cooksey will be responsible for conducting research and overseeing strategic interests in regards to any proposed legislation, efforts surrounding the independence referendum, and issues related to government accountability.

When asked, Director Sadighi was quick to comment on Cooksey’s willingness to immediately engage in the work at hand. “Les agreed to help tackle research and bill tracking for the TNM, and he was eager to jump right in. He has already demonstrated that he is committed to helping accomplish our on-going mission in Austin.”

“Everyone on the National Leadership Team is excited to have both Gayle and Les volunteer to work on the political aspects of our mission,” Sadighi said. “We appreciate them stepping up when asked, and all of the hard work they’ve done.”
