< }}” alt=”texas-gold.png” width=”300″ />The bill, originally filed in the 83rd Legislative session by State Representative Giovanni Capriglione, seeks to establish Texas as a safe haven for precious metals investors and is a giant step toward establishing the economic independence of Texas.
This bill also means that gold owned by Texas institutions and stored in banks and depositories outside of Texas, can finally be brought home and put in the hands of Texas. In short, it established an economic base for what could be a future stable monetary system based on real value.
While the bill passed overwhelmingly in the Texas House, it seemed that it would die in the Senate due to the approaching end of the session. Supporters of the TNM mounted a last ditch campaign to call all members of the Senate and urge their support of the bill.
It seems that the phone calls and emails paid off as HB 483 went from 2nd reading to final passage in one single day.
Passage of HB 483 satisfies one of the TNM’s legislative priorities in this session and is a step in the right direction of fulfilling our mission of the political, cultural and economic independence of Texas.
UPDATE: HB 483 was passed out of the Senate with amendments. Stay tuned as this bill may be headed to conference committee.
