Our Vision
Let Texas Decide is an ongoing campaign of the Texas Nationalist Movement to provide information on the right of Texans to leave the union and the benefits of doing so. From its inception, we knew that the people of Texas, armed with the facts and presented with the opportunities that independence would provide, would want to exercise their right to vote on the issue.
Becoming an independent nation doesn’t mean isolation – not from the rest of the United States nor the rest of the world. It means that we reclaim the right to govern ourselves in the manner that we see fit and, in turn, can engage the U.S. and the world on our terms. In fact, it is our love for the principles on which the United States and Texas were founded that leads us to take action to preserve those principles.
This is not just about looking back. It is about Texans taking control of their future and creating our own destiny. With the right of self-government restored to Texans, we can choose our own course – a course of strength, prosperity, and freedom.
We believe that many Texans have been unable to form an informed opinion on independence due to the tremendous amount of misinformation and propaganda by the opposition. Texans have, for too long, been told that we can’t even exercise our fundamental right to vote on the issue. The TNM has worked ceaselessly to dispel these myths and remind Texans that the power to decide their political future is solely in their hands.
To that end, we invite you to become informed on this issue as starting point for discussion. It’s long passed time that Texans had real, honest, and direct discussion on our relationship with the Federal Government. This is not the end of the discussion. Rather, it is a place to start a dialog. Let the conversation continue.

There Is A Legal Path To Independence
Texans can have a vote on independence and, if Texans choose to become an independent nation again, can legally do so.
There is nothing in the United States Constitution, the Texas Constitution or Federal law that prevents a State from exiting the union. With the United States Constitution silent on the issue, the power is reserved to the State of Texas.
Article 1 Section 2 of the Texas Constitution reserves the power to alter, reform or abolish our form of government to the people of Texas.
Critics often cite the Supreme Court case of Texas v White to declare any State leaving the union as illegal. In doing so, they ignore the deficiencies in the ruling as well as over 150 years of additional court precedent, treaty law, and foreign policy that upholds the right of self-determination and overturns Texas v White.
