Joseph "Joey" Herald
Current Occupation: Real Estate Broker / Manager | Birthdate: 10/22/1966
I was born and raised for the most part in McKinney. My third great-grandfather, Capt. James Lowry, settled in Collin County in the early 1860's. Lowry's Crossing is named after him. I have had family in Collin County since that time. For most of my married life I have lived in Allen.
Over 27 years ago I married an angel, Charity. Her name describes her perfectly. Together we are raising 7 of the sweetest, hardworking kids around. We live a pretty sweet life. Charity is a teacher and I am a residential real estate broker.
Since I was a young man I have been been involved in community service. I find great pleasure in giving back and being part of the solutions that make our community a great place to be. I have served on the Allen City Council for 9.5 years and in many, many other positions. Some of my favorite service has been after the Moore tornadoes or Hurricane clean ups after Rita and Harvey. In each instance working side by side with family, friends, and victims has touched my soul.
I have always been a very hands on public servant. From Boy Scouts, Community Emergency Response Teams, Kiwanis, Church, to City Council, I am not afraid to roll up sleeves and get to work.
One of my greatest honors is having served the people and my community of Allen, TX. I have stood on the shoulders of giants and done my best to reach even higher. Allen is a great place and I am very pleased to have worked with some of the finest men and women around, including Councilmembers, Staff, Volunteers, and citizens. We haven't always agreed on everything, yet, there is no question about hearts being in the right place nor the results we have achieved.
Why are you running for office?
I feel the incumbent has been invisible and shown poor stewardship. Additionally, she has shown a lack of vision and preparation for the growth that is coming to Collin County. She pushes off transportation projects and I want to move forward aggressively. She has been unsupportive of public safety and I would like to give them a better compensation package and the tools they need to be successful in their jobs. She has asked the DA and Courts to do more with less (our district courts currently serve a population 45% higher than the state average and we just keep growing) and I would like to give the DA and Courts the staff they need to deter crime with speedy justice.

In your own words, please describe the meaning of Article 1 Section 2 of the Texas Constitution.
The citizens or voters have the rights. They can use their votes and exercise their rights as they see fit at all times. They elect representatives to fulfill their wishes. These elected officials have the stewardship to represent the people and make the best decisions for the families.
In your own words, please describe the meaning of the 10th Amendment to the United States Constitution.
If it is not expressly included in the constitution the Federal government has no authority. The states rights gives them ability to govern as the citizens of that state see fit without outside interference.
Why should supporters of the Texas Nationalist Movement support your candidacy?
I'm present, not invisible. I'm actively involved in the community. The closer the elected representatives are to the citizens the better the solutions become. I am logical. If it works on the family level and benefits the family, there is a great chance it will work for the County. And, I have the heart of a servant.
